The 16th International Symposium on Practical Design of Ships and Other Floating Structures will be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from 19 October 2025 to 23 October 2025. PRADS is one of the most prestigious conferences in the marine domain, combining cutting-edge developments from academia with state-of-the-art challenges from industry. Building on a long tradition of excellence, we anticipate hosting 132-176 presentations of peer-reviewed archival papers, with roughly 175-200 participants. Past PRADS conferences have been strongly international, with large delegations from South Korea, Japan, China, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, the US, and the UK attending. Numerous Ph.D. students have traditionally participated, supported by discounted student registration. We anticipate a similar attendance at PRADS 2025.
The event will be hosted on-campus at the Michigan League at the University of Michigan, with a welcome reception on Sunday, a tour of the Henry Ford Museum, and a conference banquet at the Detroit Institute of Arts on Wednesday. Four keynote lectures will also be given during the conference, with the remainder of the conference split between three or four parallel paper sessions.
